By the way... how does one print this off from the site? I see no link to printing it . I guess I will have to take a pad and write it down.

The original link to the recipe above does say it is "potatoes au gratin". Why it comes under scalloped potatoes is a mistake I suppose.

Doesn't ANYONE know that when they're made with cheese, they're called 'Au Gratin' Potatoes, NOT 'Scalloped' Potatoes? Scalloped Potatoes are made with sour cream, NOT with cheese!

Oh, my goodness if I could eat scalloped potatoes at every meal I'd be one happy lady, and I had no idea how easy it was to make them...I've been using boxed forever and honestly thought only professional chefs were capable of making them homemade! I'm thinking instead of layering it though I'd probably put it all in a big bowl and mix everything together so it's all evenly coated and then putting it all into a casserole dish and baking. Either way, I can't wait to try it.

I make these for my family all the time! They are perfect and super easy. It is the dish I'm always asked to bring to a potluck. If there are any left - which almost never happens - they freeze nicely and taste just a good the second time around!

I call these cheesy potatoes. I have never tried them using mozzarella cheese mixed with cheddar before. Only the cheddar. But, cheddar and mozzarella together are amazing. If you don't have Yukon Gold potatoes, I recommend using red potatoes. Russets are more starchy and will change the texture a bit. If you don't have a large casserole, a 9" x 13" cake pan would work well.
