Lubee (lebanese Dish)


  • 2 lbs. green beans
  • 1 lb. lamb, cubed
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon


Brown meat with onions in melted butter and add spices. String and cut green beans. Wash and drain. combine beans with meat. cover and steam for 15 minutes. Add tomatoes and water and cook over low heat approximately 1 hour. Serve over rice.

I always feel that a lamb stew is so comforting and this one certainly is. We are a large family so added some chopped sweet potato to pad it out a bit as well as a teaspoon of paprika and some chopped fresh garlic for a little extra flavor. A very good, warming dish which would be great for cooler weather.
