Preparation Time20 min
Cooking Time5 min
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 package (1.25 ounces) taco seasoning mix
- 2 tablespoons Pace® Picante Sauce
- 1/2 cup Pace® Chunky Salsa
- 4 ounces shredded Mexican cheese blend (about 1 cup)
- sour cream (optional)
- sliced pitted ripe olives (optional)
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Press the wonton wrappers into 24 (1 1/2-inch) mini muffin-pan cups.
Cook the beef in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until it's well browned, stirring often to break up the meat. Pour off any fat. Stir in the taco seasoning mix and picante sauce.
Spoon the beef mixture into the wonton cups. Top with the salsa and cheese.
Bake for 5 minutes or until the wontons are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Garnish with sour cream and olives, if desired. Serve immediately with additional salsa.

I've always liked the mini-tacos that are commercially available and I've been looking for a homemade equivalent. These look absolutely perfect and I'm glad I came across this recipe. It's quick to make and allows for a lot of flexibility. I'd use sliced jalapenos as a garnish rather than olives and I recommend the low-sodium Casa Mamita version that we picked up at Aldi's.

These are cute! Fun party food. I like the wonton wrapper idea for the base. I like chicken tacos. You could substitute a shredded chicken breast for the ground beef. Maybe two breasts if they are small. It seems pretty simple to put together. I am looking for stuff to make for the NFL playoffs. This one is on the short list.

It seems like I'm discovering a lot of recipes using wonton wrappers which is good. Wonton wrappers are so abundant where I am, they can be purchased in a wet market or in a grocery store and the price is reasonable. This Must Have Mini Tacos has become so easy to make. I used to use taco shells for our tacos although the taco shell need no cooking. I guess that's the trade off. Use wonton noodles but you need to bake in a muffin pan or use taco shells so you don't have to cook them. Now, that decision will depend on your desired eating experience. Thanks for this recipe.

These work really well using refrigerated biscuits (Pillsbury Grands for example) instead of the wonton wrappers...better known in my family as Taco Buns. (Finger food for teenagers)
