Broil King Expert Tips:
- To make sure you have the best grilling technique, check out Broil King’s how-to video.
- Marinate meats in a non-metal shallow bowl or in a sturdy, resealable plastic bag. Never re-use marinades.
- Let cooked meats rest between one quarter and one third of the total cooking time before serving (5 minutes for steaks, chops, and other individual portions, up to 30 minutes for chickens, turkeys and roasts).
- 4 steaks (preferably New York Strip), 1-inch thick
- 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- Freshly ground pepper
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Trim excess fat from the steaks. In a heavy, resealable plastic bag, combine garlic, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, pepper, mustard, soy sauce, and olive oil.
Marinate the steaks for 1 hour at room temperature or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator. If refrigerating, bring steaks close to room temperature 1 hour before grilling for more even cooking.
Preheat the barbecue on high (try the Broil King 50,000 BTU Gas Grill, Broil King 30,000 BTU Gas Grill or the Broil King Keg 4000 Charcoal Grill). Brush grids with olive oil. Grill steak on both sides until desired doneness.

Interesting that this is supposedly Marilyn Monroe's favorite dinner when balsamic vinegar didn't show up in the US until 1978. I suppose she could have flown to Modena every time she wanted the meal.....

This is a great no fail recipe for a steak marinade, and works really nicely well with other types of meat as well. I frequently marinade pork chops and chicken pieces this way in the summer. If you like more char flavor on your steaks you could add a little brown sugar to the mix. Sometimes I make a marinade like this but substitute an anchovy or two for the worcestershire sauce.

Steak is not a dish that I can make very easily. I always end up over cooking it and making it really tough. One of my husbands favorite steaks is the New York Strip Steak so this is a perfect idea for a new take on his favorite. He loves to try steak dishes.

Yes, this has to be the perfect steak. The marinade ingredients are a perfect mix, I can imagine it tasting luscious. I may be tempted to add a little honey and ginger to the marinade. I wonder how that would taste? This would go perfectly served with a crisp side salad.

Sounds good. I'm always in the market for a different marinade. I'd probably opt for the overnight marinade over the 1-hour. I want that flavor to really settle in. )

Marinades are great tenderizers. The acidity helps break up the meat fibers. After I marinade the meat and take the meat out, I like to boil the marinade and brush it over the steak to impart even more flavor. It works great and bringing the marinade to a boil kills any bacteria.

Made this steak tonight, marinated for one hour and had to pan fry in cast iron pan. This turned out so tender and the taste absolutely wonderful! Thanks for the recipe,

Thank you! I will try pan frying in a cast iron pan. Probably it will make a difference. I always end up with a tough steak in a regular pan!
