Perfection. I love Shamrock shakes, but I'm trying to cut dairy out of my diet as much as possible. This way I can just replace all of the ingredients with my diary free versions!

I have to make these for the "little" ones at the table to have with their dessert. Wouldn't want them to feel left out while the adults enjoy their Irish Coffee. I like sitting an Oreo cookie in the whipped cream. The kids love the chocolate mint combination. Come to think of it, I may want one for myself!

I love the idea of making this McDonald's recipe at home! There's something so fun about making milkshakes yourself. It feels very festive.

I've always liked the McDonalds' Shamrock Shake, though we have Cook Out and Sonic not very far from our local McDonalds, so our craving for shakes is easily taken care of without venturing into there. It's nice to have a good homemade version of it for those times when I feel like having a mint shake. I do like the idea of topping it with some chocolate shavings since mint and chocolate are two flavors that go together perfectly.

I'm seriously starting to think I need to get out more, because I've never heard of this shake before but it sounds interesting. Except, I can't help but think the cherry doesn't belong with peppermint. Of course I've never tried it before either, so you never know. Maybe some chocolate shavings either in or on top would make more sense to me, but either way it's gotta be popular for some reason right?

The video of the milkshake being made was much appreciated. It has made me want to make this even more. When I was a child, I remember going to McDonald's and drinking a shamrock shake and really enjoying it. Now that I'm grown up, I still crave this treat. To lighten up this recipe, I would use fat free or 1 % milk. If an even healthier version is desired, reduced fat vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt could be used.

I have never been a fan of McDonald's ice cream so I have never had the shake. But, I do love mint and would love to try it for myself and I could use good quality ice cream. Instead of vanilla ice cream, you could always just use mint flavored. Maybe that wouldn't taste the same. It would still be good.

I also make a point to get at least one Shamrock Shake around St. Patrick's Day, but now I can have one any day I please!
