I remember when I lived in Germany eating cake for breakfast. I thought it was so strange but it was their tradition. I wasn't going to complain, I would have two slices. We had Apfelkuchen almost every day. Sometimes it would be chocolate cake. I'm definitely going to make this for a trip down memory lane.

This cake doesn't rise super tall due to it being baked in a 10 inch pan instead of the normal nine inch round cake pan. I love apples in cake. No walnuts in cake for me. It is nice enough for serving guests.

This German Apple Cake reminds me of the one my Mutti used to make. I love the idea of using the apricot glaze on top. I don't recall Mutti adding walnuts to hers, but I must say, that sounds delightful. I'm putting this on my to-do list. A perfect addition to a Kaffeeklatsch with the girls!

What a beautiful cake! This would make a fantastic dessert to serve to friends coming over for the afternoon... or maybe an extra special after school treat!
