I really like this spiced applesauce cake recipe. I have made a similar recipe many times in the past and with some pretty wrapping and ribbon given them away as gifts for neighbors however this one is just so tasty. Must be the addition of walnuts, cherries and raisins that gives this recipe extra goodness.

I've made apple cakes before using a recipe from my father, but I've never made an applesauce cake. I don't usually care for fruitcake, but this sounds like something I would like. I enjoy moist cakes, and I think this would be excellent. My wife loves cherries, so this would be ideal for her tastes.

Every year for the holidays I look forward to getting fruit cake from my friends who can't wait to give it away and It lasts me all year long. I can't really complain...although it's probably not the most healthy thing I could consume. This looks like a much healthier version and I love that it's not overloaded with sugar and filled with way too many dried fruits.

I've never heard of a recipe like this. I think when I make it, I will leave out the cherries. It sounds like such an easy tasty recipe. I'm glad it's moist and doesn't need frosting. I really don't like cake frosting, unless it's whipped topping frosting.

My mom made this all the time when I was growing up. It was always so good and moist. No frosting is needed. The applesauce keeps it moist until it is gone. I am glad to have the recipe now. I consider he raisins and cherries optional because it is good either way you make it.
